Tiered Garden at south entrance to Town.PLanting season

The local Communities in Bloom Committee has competed at both the provincial and national levels. In '06 and '07 we received 5 Blooms at the National level. Gardens are planned and planted by volunteers. Many private gardens are showcased in garden tours. Residents are encouraged to enhance front yards as they compete for the coveted Daisy Award. In 2007 new street banners and hanging flower baskets were added. But Communities in Bloom is more than just flowers! It’s a volunteer committee that works to improve our community by concentrating on improving Tidiness, Environmental Awareness, Community Involvement, Tree/Urban Forestry, Landscaped Areas, Floral Displays and Turf & Ground Cover.

Pitch-in Day gets all ages involved from throughout the community.
Local participation in CiB initiatives is outstanding. Local graphic designer Kim Knight of Studiobound volunteered her time and expertise to help design the new street banners, in collaboration with the Town of Gravenhurst, CiB, BIA, and the Chamber of Commerce

Volunteers help maintain the many gardens around the town, weeding and watering as necessary. Businesses and individuals also donate towards CiB projects, sponsoring gardens, donating materials, or use of equipment.
